Coronation Street has won big at the 2023 British Soap Awards, scooping a string of gongs.
Established in 1999, the annual awards ceremony honours the best moments in British soap operas, with categories including Best British Soap, Best Dramatic Performance and Best Storyline.
This year’s star-studded event took place at The Lowry in Salford on Saturday 3 June, but isn’t televised until a few days later.
One of this year’s biggest talking points has been the decision of Phillip Schofield to step down from hosting duties after leaving the channel after admitting he had lied about his affair with a younger colleague on This Morning.
With little time to spare before the event, singer and TV presenter Jane McDonald took over the reins in his absence.
**SPOILER ALERT**
Coronation Street was the big winner of the night scooping six awards including Best Single Episode as well as Scene of the Year for its acid attack storyline.
EastEnders won four awards including the coveted Best Soap category. Hollyoaks went home with two awards while Emmerdale and Doctors all took one award each.
