Alexandria Vera is a former middle school teacher who was accused of sexually assaulting her 13-year-old male student for several months. Alexandria had the boy as a student at the start of the 2015 school year and reportedly became pregnant in January. She had an abortion after the investigation began, authorities said. She was then placed on administrative leave from her position as an English teacher at Stovall Middle School in the Aldine Independent School District, which serves parts of Harris County, including portions of Houston. Alexandria is currently facing a felony charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child. Prosecutors say they have evidence showing that between September 2015 and January 30, 2016, the middle school teacher committed two acts of sexual abuse against a child younger than 14 years of age, including an act constituting aggravated sexual assault of a child. The felony sexual abuse charge carries a minimum sentence of 25 years and up to 99 years in prison, according to Texas law.

Alexandria Vera dated her 13-year-old male student for nearly five months beginning in September 2015. During summer school, the boy flirted with her and asked for the name of her Instagram account. Alexandria said she tried to stop the flirting and denied a friend request on Instagram from the student. But the boy ended up in her English class when the 2015-16 school year started, and Alexandria says the flirting continued. When the boy missed class in September, she became concerned and proceeded to message him on Instagram. He then asked for the teacher’s phone number and she gave it to him. Later, she went to his house to pick him up and they drove around and kissed in the car. She drove to his house later that month and had sex with the student for the first time. Alexandria told investigators the boy would sleep at her house and then she would drive him back to his house in the morning so he could catch the bus. She also claimed she got pregnant in January 2016, but had an abortion in February after Child Protective Services agents showed up at the school. Alexandria is also the mother of a 5-year-old girl, according to her Facebook page.
