In “Let’s Tidy Up,” the Australian comedian Josh Thomas stands upon a stage floor covered with confetti and ponders whether his neurodivergent brain will allow him to accomplish what the title of his new one-hander demands.
This would not be the first time Thomas has turned personal challenges into comedic fodder. He made his coming-out story into the TV show “Please Like Me,” which originally aired in Australia from 2013 to ’16. That was followed by the Freeform series “Everything’s Gonna Be Okay,” in which he played a fictional version of himself moving to Los Angeles and caring for two young half sisters. In real life, Thomas, who has talked about his A.D.H.D. and autism, did relocate to Hollywood, but his ability to take care of his dog, his garden or even himself has often been up for debate, as he discusses in “Let’s Tidy Up.”
At this Off Broadway run, which was recently extended through June 29, Thomas also wonders what he might have done had he been at the uprising at the Stonewall Inn, a fitting reflection given that it’s Pride Month and SoHo Playhouse is only a half-mile south of the L.G.B.T.Q. landmark.
