MicroProse Announces Development of B-17G Flying Fortress for MSFS

Posted by

Newcomer to Microsoft Flight Simulator, developer MicroProse is planning to make its debut with a Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress. Part of the ‘Heritage Valor Collection‘, its the first aircraft in a series of add-ons the developer aims to bring to the sim.

The Boeing B-17G requires little of an introduction, as it’s one of the most iconic aircraft of WWII. It features four powerful turbocharged Wright R-1820 Cyclone 9 engines, which were upgraded throughout the war to increasingly powerful versions. Similarly, the B-17 itself was upgraded throughout the war with additional armament options. The B-17G is considered the ‘definite’ version of the aircraft, with the highest number of aircraft produced.

Although MicroProse is new to Microsoft Flight Simulator, this is far from the first project the developer has undertaken. MicroProse has a large list of games under its name, including Tiny Combat Arena, Carrier Command, The Mighty 8th (also featuring a B-17), Falcon, F15 Strike Eagle, and many more.

In order to create an accurate flying experience for their upcoming B-17G Flying Fortress, the developer is working closely with several consultants to enhance the visual fidelity and realism of the model, as well as access various resources that help in creating and fine-tuning the flight model and systems. You can read more about MicroProse’s upcoming ‘Heritage Valor Collection’, including the B-17 on this website.
