After tabulation and confirmation of the ballots, alumni have selected Houston Mills ’85 and Rob Rudicel ’92 to serve as Alumni Trustees on the Wabash College Board of Trustees.
The Board also elected James C. Snyder ’82, Jonathan D. Walsh ’98, and Ray LaDriere ’78 to serve four-year terms, and re-elected incumbents Stephen S. Bowen’68, Jennifer Evans, Ray W. Jovanovich ’84, James J. Kilbane ’84, Jeffrey M. Perkins ’89, and James J. “Jay” Williams ’66.
“Wabash is blessed to have a Board of Trustees who bring to the party a laser focus on doing everything we can to support President Feller and his team in meeting the College’s objectives and mission,” said Board Chair Jay Allen ’79. “Our new Trustees bring a diversity of backgrounds and personal and professional experiences that will augment our efforts and challenge us to continue to evolve in our thinking around how we can ensure a strong future for Wabash.”
Newly elected trustees include:
Houston Mills ’85 served nine years as a Marine Corps officer and F/A-18 fighter pilot, where he was certified as an air combat tactics instructor (ACTI) and participated in Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Restore Hope, and Southern Watch. He has more than 100 aircraft carrier landings to his credit. He presently serves as UPS president of flight operations and safety. He serves on the Board of Directors of the National Center for Families Literacy, Organization of Black Aerospace Professional Board of Advisors, and is president of the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Kentucky. Mills also had the honor to be the operating captain of the first COVID-19 vaccine delivery flight in the U.S. in December 2020.
Mills majored in English at Wabash and received an MBA from Webster University. He was a member of the basketball team, Lambda Chi Alpha, the Malcolm X Institute of Black Studies, and Sphinx Club. He and his wife, Sonia, have three children and live in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
Rob Rudicel ’92 is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. During his tenure at Community Hospitals of Indianapolis, Rudicel has twice served as chairman of pediatrics and was the medical director of the infant and pediatric hospice program. He has served as a volunteer for Black Men in White Coats, an organization that aims to increase the number of black men in the field of medicine through exposure, inspiration, and mentoring. For more than two decades, he has welcomed Wabash pre-med students into his practice to provide them with invaluable insights into the medical profession. Since 2018, he has served on the Wabash Club of Indianapolis Board. He also served on the Parent Advisory Committee. Rudicel has served on the Phi Delta Theta chapter Advisory Board since 2016.
Rudicel was a biology major and classics minor, graduating magna cum laude. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency at DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
James C. Snyder ’82 is partner and CCO for Hammond, Kennedy, Whitney and leads the firm’s investor relations team. He previously was vice president and general counsel for Browning Investments; director of finance and general counsel for the city of Indianapolis; and chief of staff for the Indiana state treasurer. At Wabash, he was a political science and speech major and member of Beta Theta Pi and the Sphinx Club. He attended the Indiana University School of Law.
Jonathan D. Walsh ’98 is the Chief People Officer of Aera Technology, a decision intelligence firm. He previously served as Chief Administrative Officer for Umba, an African digital bank where he is still an advisor, and as Chief Administrative Officer at Calypso Technology, a financial technology firm. At Wabash, he was a psychology major and a member of Sigma Chi, IFC, Sphinx Club, Student Senate, and Alpha Phi Omega. He earned a master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology from Roosevelt University.
Ray LaDriere ’78 previously served two terms as Alumni Trustee before being elected by the Board. He is a retired General Counsel/Partner at Locke Lord LLP. Currently he chairs the Board’s Budget and Finance Committee and serves on the Academic Affairs, Audit, Building and Grounds, and Retirement Benefits committees.
