Update: Sony has now restored normal service to all aspects of the PlayStation Network, with the relevant page stating: “All services are up and running.” The temporary outage across select parts of PSN lasted roughly two to three hours.
Original story: Sony is currently investigating a series of PSN errors that have taken some features of its online services offline, or are providing issues at the very least. The PSN network service status page is flagging errors across account management, gaming and social, PlayStation Video, and the PlayStation store on PS5 and PS4.
Each category carries a similar message from Sony support: “You might have difficulty signing in or creating an account for PlayStation Network. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.” All these problems were picked up as of 15:46 BST. It’s a similar story on the Down Detector website, where a couple of thousand reports of PSN being offline have come in within the last half an hour or so.
We’ll update this article once normal service is resumed on PSN. For now, Sony says it’s aware of the flaws affecting the online service and is actively investigating.
