No. 7 Georgia def. No. 10 NC State, 11-2
Georgia responded in a big way to being blown out by NC State in Game 1 of the Athens Regionals.
After allowing 11 runs in a single inning Saturday, Georgia responded with 10 straight runs on Sunday to force a winner-takes-all Game 3.
Slate Alford, Tre Phelps and Paul Toetz helped run up the score by hitting home runs in the first six innings.
Corey Collins added a homer of his own in the eighth inning, joining Charlie Condon as the second Bulldog to record 20 home runs in the season.

NC State sent their first runner home in the bottom of the seventh on a fielder’s choice, but the Wolfpack’s late push was not enough to overcome the double-digit deficit.
Leighton Finley earned the win in 6.2 innings on the mound, having allowed just one run while striking out five and walking two which pitching the most innings of his college career.
Leighton Finley exits to a standing ovation. He pitched a career-high 6.2 innings and allowed one run. What a start for the sophomore. pic.twitter.com/4RzR03WPcR
“We got down, and the way Finley was pitching, it made it tough for us,” NC State head coach Elliott Avent said after the loss. “I thought we played okay, but it comes down to game three which is where two great teams probably should come down to.”
A ticket to Omaha is on the line when Game 3 kicks off Monday at a start time yet to be determined.
Florida def. No. 6 Clemson, 11-10 (13)
The 2023 runners-up are headed back to Omaha.
A walk-off hit from Michael Robertson in the bottom of the 13th inning punched Florida’s ticket to the College World Series.

Florida looked to have already sealed the victory in eight innings, as the Gators headed into the ninth frame with a three-run lead.
Clemson’s Cam Cannarella erased that advantage and sent the game to extra innings by hitting a three-run homer in the ninth.
The Gators had another chance to end the game with a deep hit to center in the bottom of the 10th, but Cannarella stepped up once more to snag that at the wall:

Alden Mathes, who was 0-for-6 on the game heading into his 13th-inning at-bat, sent a home run over the right field fence to give the Tigers the late lead.
Had the score held, Clemson would have forced a winner-takes-all Game 3. But Robertson’s double with the bases loaded was enough to earn Florida the walk-off ticket to Omaha.
Florida will wait for the results of the Bryan-College Station Super Regional to find out their next opponent. The team is slated to take on either Oregon or No. 3 Texas A&M in the College World Series.
No. 1 Tennessee def. Evansville, 9-1
Tennessee avoided a historic upset with a dominant win over Evansville that sent the Vols to the College World Series for the third time in four seasons.
That decision didn’t always look settled when Game 3 began Sunday. Evansville followed up their Game 2 upset of Tennessee by scoring in the top of the first.

Tennessee’s Christian Moore responded with a home run in the bottom of the frame, sparking eight straight innings of offensive dominance for the Vols.

Back-to-back homers from Dean Curley and Dalton Bargo helped Tennessee put together a four-run second inning.
Home runs from Billy Amick and Cal Stark, as well as second over-the-fence-hits from Moore and Bargo, led the Vols to victory.
The six home runs tied a program record for the most homers in a single playoff game. The Volunteers now have eight players with double-digit home run totals on the season.

Having redeemed themselves from becoming the first No. 1 national seed to lose to a No. 4 regional seed in NCAA Tournament history, Tennessee will now head to Omaha to take on Florida State.
No. 3 Texas A&M def. Oregon, 15-9
Texas A&M trailed Oregon early, but a nine-run seventh inning capped off by a grand slam by Kaeden Kent led the Aggies to a College World Series-clinching Game 2 win.
