PlayStation Stars points are broken for some users after 2024 outage

Now that some subscribers finally have access to those PlayStation Stars campaigns in the PS App following the major service outage, many subscribers are back to racking up their points to trade for PS Store discounts. Unfortunately, for some subscribers, PlayStation Stars points appear to still be broken in July 2024 despite Sony’s official guidance on the issue.

PlayStation Stars points still appear broken after PS App fix

PlayStation Stars is officially back online in Europe and Australia, as well as the UK, Asia, and Japan. This gives PS Stars subscribers in these regions the opportunity to at last check their PS Stars points, which Sony stated would be unaffected by the five-week-long outage.

However, this advice ran contrary to our findings that PlayStation Stars was seeing some lost points from the 2024 outage, and now we know that it isn’t true for all users. I can confirm that the PS Stars points I should have received in June 2024 are still missing, and I’m not the only one affected by the issue according to this Reddit post.

As you can see in the image above, I was able to check my PlayStation Stars points history in the PS App now that the service is back online in the UK. However, you’ll note that the latest points I received were for a purchase on Saturday, June 1, 2024 — four days before PS Stars went offline.

As I pointed out in my previous coverage, I made two further game purchases in mid-June 2024 (see the image above). While my account data shows that both games registered correctly with Sony on the backend of the PlayStation Network, neither game purchase has been reflected in my PS Stars points history.

So, while Sony’s advice might have been confident that your PlayStation Stars points would be unaffected, you’ll unfortunately need to double check that yourself once you’ve regained access to the PS App. To see your PS Stars points history, simply go to the PS Stars section of the PS App, select the banner that shows your current level, and then on the next page you should find an option to check your points.
