'You' Season 2: These Two Cast Members Were Once Soap Opera Stars – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Two of the most pivotal characters on Netflix’s You may have more in common than you may initially think! Lead actor Penn Badgley and new series regular Ambyr Childers have a soapy history that only die-hard fans would really know about.
Badgley (who portrays Joe/Will on You) played a key legacy character on the long-running CBS soap, The Young and the Restless. From 2000-2001 he played one of the child versions of Phillip Chancellor IV, the great-granddaughter of one of the most iconic soap opera characters ever, Jill Abbot (Jess Walton).
Because Badgley only appeared in 10 episodes, there is not any footage readily available of him online on the series.
From 2006-2008 on All My Children, Childers (who portrays Candace/Amy on You) portrayed the role of a teenaged Colby Chandler, the daughter of another iconic soap opera character, Adam Chandler (David Canary). She appeared in 139 episodes of the now-defunct ABC daytime series, much more than Badgley appeared on The Young and the Restless. When the Childers was cast in the role and the character was rapidly aged from 7 to 16, the character went through typical rebel teen behavior.
Though they were never on the show at the same time, Childers’ character, Colby was half-sisters with Kelly Ripa’s character, Hayley Vaughan.
Critics are receiving the new season of You with open arms. It currently has a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is on par with the 93% approval rating for the first season.
The review aggregator’s critic consensus for the second season reads, “Penn Badgley’s perversely endearing serial stalker keeps looking for love in all the wrong places during a second season that maintains the subversive tension while adding some welcome variations on the series’ formula.”
The new season, as well as the first season which initially aired on Netflix, are both streaming now on Netflix.
