He pulled it off against England’s Joe Hart last night, but does it always work?
Italy star Andrea Pirlo not only ran the midfield in the quarter-final win that knocked England out of Euro 2012 last night, he also scored the cheekiest penalty of the night when he chipped the ball right down the middle of the goal as Joe Hart dived to his right.
The goal got the Italians back on track after Riccardo Montolivo fired their previous spot-kick wide and they went on to win after Ashleys Young and Cole both missed theirs.
Pirlo's goal showed just how confident he was when taking it, but as the video below shows, it doesn't always work, and when it doesn't, you can end up looking like a right berk. Skip to 2.08mins to see what happened when he tried it for AC Milan against Barcelona back in 2010.
