KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A University of Tennessee and Tennessee Tech alum is set to take a rescheduled flight to the International Space Station (ISS). The announcement comes after the original flight was rescheduled because of technical issues.
Butch Wilmore returned to Kennedy Space Center on May 28 to prepare with fellow astronaut Suni Williams for the upcoming flight, which is now scheduled for either June 2, June 5 or June 6.

UT’s College of Engineering announced the flight last month, which will be the first crewed flight of the Boeing Starliner spacecraft. Wilmore and pilot Suni Williams will stay up to two weeks at the station. This marks Wilmore’s third spaceflight.
The flight will launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
