Sixteen of the nation’s top women’s gymnastics programs will help start the 2024 season in a major showcase at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas this weekend.
Spread over two days across four sessions, the event will have all-around and event champions for each session. This year’s collection of teams includes the last seven national champions, with Oklahoma claiming five since 2016. Michigan (2021) and UCLA (2018) also have a national title.

No. 10 Denver recorded its third-highest score in a season opener after taking the lead in all events and winning session one of the 2024 Mean Girls Super 16 Championship. Illinois finished 1.125 points behind the Pioneers, while Washington took third at 1.750 back and San Jose State took fourth at 1.900 back. No. 1 Oklahoma recorded its first win of the 2024 season during session two. The Sooners led through every rotation while Kentucky finished 1.075 points behind. Michigan State took third place at 1.550 back and Michigan took fourth at 1.975 back. Michigan State’s Sage Kellerman scored the second perfect 10 of the 2024 season and the first on Vault — setting a career-high.

A back-and-forth battle came down to Alabama clinching its first win of the 2024 season during session four. Performances on vault by the Golden Bears, including Mya Lauzon landing on the leaderboard for her 9.950 score, helped California land in first after rotation one. While UCLA took the top spot after rotation two, Alabama was able to overpower the Bruins and land first by rotation three.
