The owner of Prospero Tequila, Conecuh Brands, has appointed Stephen Lewin as president and chief executive officer.
Lewin has more than 30 years of experience in the beverage alcohol, hospitality and entertainment industries. Most recently, Lewin was CEO of ATG Entertainment North America. Under his leadership, ATG quadrupled its profits in eight years and the US grew into the firm’s biggest market.
His prior experience included senior sales and marketing leadership positions at Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, Paramount Brands, and Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy.
Lewin said: “I’m very excited to join the Conecuh team and look forward to bringing my prior experience from both inside and outside of the wine and spirits industry to further accelerate the growth of Conecuh Brands.”
Roy Danis, outgoing chief executive, will move into a senior advisory role, and support Lewin as he takes up his new position.
“Conecuh has been my baby for so many years so this is a little bittersweet for me,” Danis said. “However, I feel confident that I’m leaving at a time when the company is well-established and poised to deliver strong results for its shareholders and distributor partners here in the US and around the world.”
Conecuh Brands was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in New York in the US. Its portfolio of super-premium spirits also includes Clyde May’s Whiskey, McConnell’s Irish Whiskey, and Van Gogh Vodka.
The company collaborated with pop star Rita Ora in 2019 to launch Prospero Tequila.
James J Ammeen, chairman of Conecuh Brands, said: “We will always be grateful to Roy for his efforts in building this company, and we’re excited to have Stephen joining the team. His entertainment background coupled with a track record of success in the drinks industry will prove beneficial as we get ready to open the Conecuh Ridge Distillery in Troy, Alabama, and look to take the company to the next level.”
